Have you wondered if you should become a real estate investor? Real estate investing is known for making millionaires. However, not everyone can pull that off. If you think you want to get a piece of this pie; first, ask yourself if you have what it takes.
Are You Motivated to Learn…A Lot?
If you are able and willing to learn, you can learn almost anything. Real Estate is a field that will require lots of learning. Most of it will be on your own.
As a self-employed person, ongoing self-improvement is essential. You can never graduate from the school of personal growth.
No one is going to push you to keep learning. Self-motivation is essential to succeed in being a real estate investor.
Do You Like People?
People aren’t property, but they are part of the equation.
They can be plain obnoxious. But even when they aren’t, it’s easy to become so absorbed with our own “stuff” that we forget to recognize that the people around us have challenges of their own.
The humans we deal with, in the course of a day can quickly fade into the background, becoming props in the shadows of our agendas.
When we fail to see people as real people, it’s difficult to communicate effectively. Assuming that someone sees things our way is a set up for problems.
As a real estate investor, you will deal with people. Since the people are likely your bread and butter, there is no room for being self-absorbed.
Negotiations won’t go well if you can’t talk with someone like a person with their own “stuff” to deal with. But when someone believes that you sincerely see them, they will want to listen and collaborate.
Can You Accept Failure?
Those who make it in real estate investing, don’t do it overnight. It’s far from a get rich quick process.
You will fail. Often, hopefully. Because if you aren’t failing, you aren’t taking the risks. You aren’t trying.
If you want to become a real estate investor, you must be willing to take calculated risks. You have to be ready to accept the unsuccessful outcomes.
You will need to pick up and try again, and then again. And then….wait, wait and wait some more for the rewards.
Because the more you fail, the more successful you will be.
